So here we are again. The weather has turned chilly (with some days being downright freezing here in Philly!), our seasonal business has been closed up tight, the Thanksgiving feast has been dined on and we are getting ready to hit the road! Along with all the excitement of prepping for our annual 2+ month trip comes the usual anxiety of making sure everything that needs to be done actually gets done. In time. Before we leave.
I’ll be the first one to admit that I am not much help in this process. While I can plan like crazy (the itinerary for this year’s trip was pretty much done before we returned from out last trip, with details being filled in over the summer) I’m not that great when it comes to the actual packing and tying up loose ends part. I try my best and I eventually get it done, but the time leading up to the actual packing part always ends up stressing me out like crazy.
We treat our RV as a second home. Which means that many of the essentials are already there…sheets, towels, toothbrushes, utensils, leashes, dog bowls…you get the idea. But there is still quite a bit to be accomplished before we head out. That’s where lists come in handy. I am a beast when it comes to making them. They are sorted, labeled and color coded in my phone. Pretty convenient, yes? So now it’s just a matter of making sure all those things eventually get a nice little check mark next to their name, indicating it’s completeness and allowing me to move further down the list.
I can’t give Fran enough credit for all that she has and continues to do to prep for the trip. While I’m a crazy ball of anxiety, she is (as always) calm, cool and collected. If it weren’t for her I wouldn’t be sane enough to tackle anything on my list(s), let alone make them in the first place. So a huge THANKS goes out to my better half, the rock in my life!
Take off time is just a week away and I couldn’t be more excited if I tried. I know that while it seems really hectic right now, time will fly by and we’ll be on the road enjoying ourselves to the fullest very soon, making sure to keep you all updated along the way! I wasn’t quite sure I was going to blog this year but a handful of friends convinced me to continue the tradition! I will do my best to post as often as possible, so be sure to stay tuned for more…
